Joyce Tenneson is an American photographer, who was born in Weston, Massachusetts in 1945. She is perhaps best known for her “Wise Women” series, which featured 80 women between the ages of 65 and 100. Her work has been published in books and major magazines and appeared on covers for magazines such as Time, Life, Newsweek, Premiere, Esquire, and The New York Times Magazine.

 

Tenneson is also the recipient of many awards. The Lucie Awards named Joyce Tenneson as Fine Art Photographer of the Year in 2005, and in 2012 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Professional Photographers of America.

In 2021 Tenneson was inducted into the International Photography Hall of Fame. In addition to her photography exhibits and books, Tenneson has also taught master classes and photography workshops in the U.S. and Europe for over 40 years.
